Landao Stone Red Ecological Scenic Area

The Landao Stone Red Ecological Scenic Area is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.

The Landao Stone Red Ecological Scenic Area is located in the northwest of Pingshan County, situated along the golden tourist route from Xibaipo to Tuoliang and Mount Wutai. It is 110 kilometers from Shijiazhuang City, 45 kilometers from the revolutionary holy land of Xibaipo, and 30 kilometers from the Buddhist sacred site of Mount Wutai.

The scenic area mainly consists of four sub-areas: Landao Stone, Xidadi, Tashang, and Tianhualiang. Here, not only are there towering and precipitous mountains, deep valleys, mysterious caves, lush vegetation, and beautiful scenery, but it also preserves former residences and numerous historical sites once inhabited by revolutionary leaders such as - , Nie Rongzhen, and Li Baohua. It is a comprehensive destination integrating red tourism, rural experiences, eco-leisure, and landscape recreation. The patriotic education base and moral education base for minors — the History Exhibition Hall and Former Residences of the CCP Central Committee’s Northern Bureau — allow visitors to follow in the footsteps of the revolution and reflect on extraordinary times. Experience “Mysterious Cave Drifting” in Dragon Hidden Cave, “No. 1 Rafting in North China” at Canyon Rafting, and enjoy water fun at the Aquatic Park and fishing spots. The Yishou Fruit and Vegetable Picking Garden, Thousand-Meter Eco-Corridor, and Mountain Eco-Picking Garden let you harvest pollution-free organic produce amid green hills and clear waters. Deep in the mountains, the Tianhualiang Camping and Adventure area, as well as the charming ancient villages of Xidadi and Tashang at the border between Shanxi and Hebei and the cool summer climate, make it an ideal destination for study tours, leisure sightseeing, eco-picking, summer retreats, and landscape exploration.

Public Transport

Buses from Shijiazhuang North Passenger Transport Station to Tuoliang Mountain (get off at Landao Stone) depart daily at 6:30 AM.

Return buses from Landao Stone (parking lot) to Shijiazhuang North Passenger Transport Station are available at 7:00 AM and 3:00 PM.

Entertainment Activities

(1) Canyon Rafting — “No. 1 Rafting in North China”

(2) Everbright Village

Located in front of the No. 1 Rafting site in a traditional Mongolian yurt, this newly developed interactive dining experience offers special dishes such as roasted whole lamb and barbecue, as well as outdoor karaoke. Large bonfire and fireworks shows can be arranged upon request.

(3) Folk Performances

During the tourist season, local folk and cultural performances are held by the scenic area staff every Friday and Saturday night for visitors to enjoy and participate in.

(4) Lantern Array for Blessings during the Lantern Festival

A local custom in Landao Stone related to the legend of Emperor Liu Xiu’s journey. During the Lantern Festival, lanterns are hung across poles and nets in an open area to form a blessing array. At night, the maze-like light paths twist and turn, making it feel like a labyrinth with no exit—thus also called the Blessing Maze. This tradition symbolizes the prayer for happiness and good fortune. Local folk performances such as drumming and yangko dancing, as well as fireworks celebrations, are also held.

(5) Landao Stone Traditional Temple Fair (1st day of the fourth lunar month)

Local folk activities centered around the Grandmother Temple and Dragon King Temple, mainly including folk performances.
