Ding Ling’s Former Residence

Ding Ling’s former residence is a cultural relic protection unit of Hunan Province.

The former residence of Ding Ling is located in Jiangjia Village, Shiji Bridge Town, Linli County, about 8 kilometers from the county seat of Linli. Ding Ling was born in Heihuzichong (now Jiangjia Village), Shiji Bridge Town, Linli County, Hunan Province. She was a renowned modern Chinese writer and revolutionary whose literary works and revolutionary spirit have had a profound impact. Her full-length novel *The Sun Shines Over the Sanggan River* won the “Stalin Literature Prize,” and Comrade Mao Zedong once personally wrote the poem *Linjiangxian Presented to Ding Ling*, highly praising her as “Yesterday a literary lady, today a general in arms.”

Since June 2015, with the strong support of leaders at all levels and various sectors of society, Linli County has initiated the construction of the Ding Ling Former Residence Scenic Area. The project aims to create a celebrity hometown, a creative base, and a spiritual home. It mainly includes Ding Ling’s former residence, a Ding Ling literature creation base, a literary association hall, scenic roads, parking lots, and landscaping. The core area covers 50 acres, with the overall site spanning 500 acres, and the total investment amounts to 150 million yuan.

In 2019, Ding Ling’s former residence was approved as part of the tenth batch of provincial-level cultural relic protection units in Hunan Province.
