Shijiazhuang Taiping River Scenic Area

The Taiping River stretches from Luquan City in the west to the confluence with the Hutuo River in the east. In 2006, the first phase of the project, covering 14.25 kilometers of river dredging, was completed. Five parks have been built along the river: Linfeng Pastoral Park, Qiushi Park, Yulin Park, Taiyue Park, and Xiushui Park, as well as three landscaped greenbelts, with a total green area of 3.27 million square meters. After another two years of construction, the second phase of the project, spanning 21.35 kilometers of river, has also met the conditions for water flow. The second phase includes the construction of 12 new bridges and 7 rubber dams, which will add 765,000 square meters of water surface upon completion.

It is reported that once fully operational, the Taiping River system will offer three major functional features. First is flood control and discharge capacity. The river’s flood-carrying ability will be enhanced to standards capable of handling floods occurring once every 20 to 50 years. Second is ecological and environmental protection. Through development, remediation, and ecological restoration, including the creation of lakes and water storage, the area will become a densely vegetated ecological green barrier in the northwestern part of the provincial capital and one of the best-preserved water conservation zones. Third is tourism and leisure. Based on the parks and greenbelts along the river and centered around the water landscape, the area will form a highly attractive scenic tourism corridor in the northwestern part of the city.

Belt Park No. 1: The area between Beixincheng Bridge and Botanical Garden Bridge. This section serves as a water and waterside leisure zone, featuring water-themed scenery and emphasizing the vitality of water and the charm of waterfront leisure. It includes 0 headlands, 1 large waterfall, evergreen forests, lawns, and flowering shrubs, making it the park with the most diverse landscapes, largest area, and strongest characteristics of a Jiangnan-style garden among the five belt parks.

Belt Park No. 2: The area between Botanical Garden Bridge and Yuecunpu Bridge. This section mainly features water landscapes, rubber dams, trees, shrubs, lawns, and ornamental stones, covering an area of 55.24 hectares.

Belt Park No. 3: The area between Yuecunpu Bridge and Damacun Bridge. This section is a woodland leisure area, covering 20 hectares, and mainly consists of tree species such as Henan juniper, willows, and populus tomentosa. The woods feature winding paths, while the river offers water landscapes and rubber dams.

Belt Park No. 4: The area between Damacun Bridge and Da’anshe Bridge. This section is an orchard, where visitors can enjoy the sight of pear blossoms in spring and participate in fruit-picking activities in autumn.

Belt Park No. 5: The area between Da’anshe Bridge and Tianjiazhuang Bridge. This section is primarily a leisure and sightseeing area, featuring an elegantly designed watchtower. Climbing to the top of the tower offers panoramic views of the pleasant surroundings.
