Shijiazhuang New Passenger Station

The Shijiazhuang New Passenger Station covers an area of 7.9 square kilometers, bordered by Jianshe Avenue, South Second Ring Road, Zhonghua Avenue, and Huai’an Road. It serves as a major comprehensive transportation hub in North China, primarily focused on passenger transport, connecting three key railway lines: Beijing-Guangzhou, Shijiazhuang-Dezhou, and Shijiazhuang-Taiyuan. The construction of the station building officially started on June 10, 2010, and was expected to be completed and put into use by the end of December 2012.

The total floor area of the new passenger station building is 107,059 square meters, including 76,814 square meters above ground and 30,245 square meters underground. It has 13 platforms, 24 arrival-departure tracks, and 6 main lines. The station adopts an "up-in, down-out" layout, consisting of four levels: the elevated second floor is the waiting hall, with entrances on the north and south sides; the ground floor is the platform level; the first basement level is the exit level; and the second basement level accommodates rail transit. Public parking, taxi stands, and bus parking are located on the east and west sides. The total construction area of the new passenger station is approximately 390,209 square meters (including the station building and the underground square area). The main structure of the station building has three floors—two above ground (partially four) and one below ground (partially two).

The new passenger station square is designed with separate east and west sections, covering a total area of about 589 mu. The east square is around 300 mu, and the west square is about 289 mu. The total underground floor area of the squares is 155,000 square meters, with 79,000 square meters in the east square and 76,000 square meters in the west square. The underground spaces provide 54 bus bays, 850 parking spaces for private vehicles, 320 parking spaces for taxis, and about 1,000 spaces for non-motorized vehicles. Additionally, both the east and west squares feature commercial facilities for supporting services, with a total commercial area of approximately 59,000 square meters.

Among them, the east square has a commercial area of about 34,000 square meters, and the west square has about 25,000 square meters. The landscape designs of the east and west squares have their own distinctive features. The east square is themed “Flowing Clouds and Water,” facing the main urban area, while the west square is themed “Water Nourishing Shimen,” facing the old city area, representing history and simplicity as a continuation of historical heritage. To highlight the Shimen culture, the west square is designed with a square and robust style.

While unified by the theme of water elements, the landscapes of the east and west squares also incorporate their own regional characteristics, making them easily recognizable to passengers. The overall landscape design complements the railway station building. Elements from the Zhaozhou Bridge are integrated into the new station, extending the imprint of historical continuity. The new passenger station resembles a rainbow lying across the waves, linking the east and west (squares) and bridging toward the future.
