The Daposhui Waterfall Scenic Area is located in Qiandongdong Yao Ethnic Township, 11 kilometers north of Jiangyong County. It was designated as a provincial-level scenic area in 1998 and is also a sacred place where Yao people from around the world trace their roots, known as the ancient Yao capital of Qiandongdong. Qiandongdong consists of three basins: Upper, Middle, and Lower, covering a total area of 200 square kilometers. Surrounded by towering mountains, with an average elevation of over 1,000 meters, the area boasts 80,000 acres of pristine secondary forest and is accessible only through a single passage called “Chuan’an.” The region features serene mountains, deep forests, mysterious caves, beautiful waterfalls, and warm springs, along with a rich Yao ethnic culture. Historical and cultural sites such as the “Panguang Temple,” “Pan Zhaimei Tomb,” and “Pingwang Temple” have been preserved here, along with many fascinating folk legends. Natural attractions like Bird Mountain, White Goose Mountain, White Goose Cave, Twin Ponds Reflecting the Moon, Horse Mountain, Dog Head Rock, Daposhui Waterfall, Golden Boy Herding, Fairy Scattering Flowers, Three Peaks Clearing Snow, and Immortal Bridge are captivating, resembling a fairyland, and are often referred to as the Yao people’s “Land of Peach Blossoms.”

Daposhui Waterfall is located behind Bawangzu Village, 11.5 kilometers from the Qiandongdong Township government office. It is a series of waterfalls formed along a valley that extends 2 kilometers deep, featuring seven cascading sister waterfalls along the way—each with its own unique shape, pool, and scenery, clearly divided yet forming a continuous whole. The final waterfall in the sequence is Daposhui Waterfall. This waterfall stands over 100 meters high and 30 meters wide, flowing year-round and presenting a spectacular sight. From a distance, it appears as a straight white chain hanging from the sky; up close, it resembles silvery threads amid swirling white mist. Below the waterfall lies a pool about 100 meters wide, where the falling water creates splashing waves. Being there, you can feel a cool breeze brushing against your skin. On either side of the waterfall, stone platforms jut out like small terraces, offering great spots for visitors to enjoy the view. When viewed together with the surrounding cliffs, the waterfall resembles a giant mountain eagle spreading its wings and soaring.
