Lingshou Shuiquanxi Natural Scenic Area

Lingshou Shuiquanxi Natural Scenic Area is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.

Shuiquanxi Natural Scenic Area is located in Mufota Village, Nanying Township, Lingshou County. It consists of five sections: the Yunding Grassland Flower Viewing Area, Shenxian Cave Exploration Area, Rainbow Waterfall Water Scenic Area, Maple Valley Red Leaf Area, and Shuiquanwa River Area, featuring over 100 scenic spots. The area is densely covered with nearly a hundred categories and more than 600 plant species, offering diverse scenery throughout the four seasons. In spring and summer, the area is adorned with blooming flowers such as azaleas, weigela, lilacs, and wild lilies, with over a hundred varieties dotting the landscape. In midsummer, the lush forests and sea-like greenery create a verdant atmosphere. In autumn, visitors can not only admire the red leaves but also harvest various fruits such as wild grapes, wild kiwis, hazelnuts, and chestnuts. There are also springs everywhere, along with towering waterfalls and streams that stretch for miles. It is the natural scenic area with the most abundant water resources, best vegetation, and most unique scenery in the provincial capital.

Shuiquanxi Natural Scenic Area was originally known as Shenxian Cave Tourist Area. It got its name from the two villages within the scenic area: Shangshuiquanwa and Xiashuiquanwa. On the mountainside of Yanglinjian Peak lies a rare marble cave in North China. The cave entrance is 2.5 meters high and 5 meters wide. Less than 2 meters inside, a smaller branch cave splits off, extending about 30 meters before joining the main cave, hence the name "Shenxian Lü Dong" (Cave of Immortal Couples). The cave varies in width and height—some sections are as spacious as open halls that can accommodate hundreds of people, while others are so narrow that visitors must crawl sideways. This cave connects to Qiubu Cave in Pingshan, stretching as deep as 15 kilometers. Huge rocks hang inside the cave, exuding a spiritual aura. Ancient swords and alchemy furnaces have been excavated here. Locals refer to it as "Shenxian Dong" (Immortal Cave).

Eleven natural villages are scattered across the valleys within the scenic area. The largest village has just over 70 residents, while the smallest has around 20, totaling 470 people who make up one administrative village called Mufu Village. With a history of over a thousand years, the village is named after a Thousand-Buddha Pagoda. Although the pagoda was destroyed during the Cultural Revolution, the three ancient wooden Buddha statues (wooden Guanyin statues) enshrined inside have been well preserved (currently housed in Shenxian Cave). Due to the scattered distribution of these natural villages in the high mountains and ancient forests, the local customs are extremely simple and represent some of the most authentic ancient villages.

Upon entering the scenic area through the mountain gate, you can visit over 100 scenic spots including Qingshi Gorge, Wolong Rock, Fairy Waterfall, Rainbow Waterfall, Waterfall Viewing Pavilion, Shenxian Cave, Poplar Forest, Forest Bathing Area, Shenxian Cave Natural Village (at an altitude of 1300 meters), Taoyuan Vacation Resort, Tingyue Pavilion, Beacon Tower, Immortal Bridge, May Ice Waterfall, Play Valley, Sphinx, and Forest Sea Ark. Along the way, you’ll be surrounded by splashing streams and emerald peaks.

By Bus: Take a bus from Lingshou County to Nanying Township, then transfer to a minibus to Shuiquanxi.

By Car:

1. Shijiazhuang – Zhengding – Lingshou – Chenzhuang – Zhaotou – Turn left 50 meters before Nanying Bridge, then drive 3 kilometers to reach the destination.

2. Shijiazhuang – Shiyan Highway – Baichijian – Lingshou – Chenzhuang – Zhaotou – Turn left 50 meters before Nanying Bridge, then drive 3 kilometers to reach the destination.

3. Shijiazhuang – Shiyan Highway – Pingshan – Gangnan Reservoir – Sujiacun – National Highway 207 – Zhaotou – Turn left 50 meters before Nanying Bridge, then drive 3 kilometers to reach the destination.
