Also known as Dujiazhai, Dujiazhai is located in Chenjiazhuang Village, Xuting Township, Zanhuang County, Hebei Province. It is 20 kilometers from downtown Zanhuang and 64 kilometers from Shijiazhuang, the provincial capital. Situated on the eastern foothills of the central section of the Taihang Mountains, the main peak of Dujiazhai stands at an elevation of 1,224 meters, with an average height ranging from 1,000 to 1,224 meters. It is famous for its “majestic peaks, emerald pools, serene gorges, and peculiar rocks.” Its five major wonders — “Dujiazhai, Kaolaquan, Daoma Hong, Jizhaohong, and Jiande Lake” — are truly breathtaking.

The mountain is home to over 500 species of plants, including pristine shrubs, trees, and alpine fruit trees scattered throughout the scenic area. The “Fourteen Peaks,” along with water features such as the “Peak Spirit Spring” and “Xiushui Lake,” create a stunning natural tableau. Stone houses, stone paths, and stone mills form the charming layout of rustic farmsteads. The site retains an ancient battlefield atmosphere — the “Xuting Victory” during Han Xin’s famous battle of “fighting with one’s back to the river” took place here. During the late Sui Dynasty turmoil, it served as a military camp for Dou Jiande, the “King of Xia” among the Eighteen Rebel Lords. Historically, the area has produced many notable figures; for instance, a Tang Dynasty prime minister originally hailed from here. With beautiful scenery, a tranquil environment, and a lingering sense of ancient charm, Dujiazhai remains a place of enduring appeal.

The mountain is covered with lush, verdant vegetation; lakes and bridges dot the hillsides amid fragrant blossoms and birdsong. In summer, cool mountain breezes bring refreshing clarity, while the air remains pure and free of dust. In late spring, rhododendrons bloom in vibrant reds and greens; in the peak of July, floral scents fill the air. Mountain peaks emerge and vanish within sea of clouds, while mist weaves through the ridges. Sunrises and sunsets, morning dew and evening glow, Buddhist halos and mirages, and ever-flowing streams all contribute to the countless captivating sights.

By Bus: Take a bus from Zanhuang to Xuting Township, then transfer to a minibus to Dujiazhai Scenic Area

By Car: From Shijiazhuang, take National Highway 107 via Yuanshi County southwest to Zanhuang County. From downtown Zanhuang, follow the outer ring road westward to Xuting Township. Follow the signs to reach Dujiazhai Scenic Area.
