Dan Mountain Temple: Originally built in the 21st year of the Kangxi reign during the Qing Dynasty (1683). "Evening Bell at Cliffside Temple" is one of the ancient Eight Scenic Spots. The most unique feature of Dan Mountain Temple is its original main gate—a naturally formed, downward-slanting crevice just wide enough for one person to pass through. This crevice is a natural formation, so narrow and steep that it’s said to be easily defended against many. At the bottom of the crevice lies a brick-built gate wall, with the lintel inlaid with broken ceramic pieces forming the four clerical-script characters “曲径通幽” (A Winding Path Leads to Seclusion), and the door couplet reads: “The way out is the way in; advancing how is higher than retreating?” The ancient temple was demolished in 1965 and rebuilt in 1990.
