Historical Exhibition Hall of the CCP North China Bureau

The Historical Exhibition Hall of the CCP North China Bureau is a patriotic education base.

Landao Stone Village in Jiaotanzhuang Town, Pingshan County, is 110 km from Shijiazhuang City and 45 km from Xibaipo. Starting from Xibaipo and going upstream along the Hutuo River through Xiabai, then turning onto the Xiejia River at Xiaojo, you’ll pass Jiaotanzhuang and continue 1.5 km north to enter the Landao Stone Red Ecological Scenic Area. There, on the banks of the Xiejia River, a striking blue-roofed building nestled against the mountains and water catches the eye — this is the Historical Exhibition Hall of the CCP North China Bureau.

Landao Stone was once the site of the headquarters of the CCP North China Bureau and the Shanxi-Chahar-Hebei Border Region. The village still preserves the former residences of veteran revolutionaries such as Peng Zhen, Nie Rongzhen, Xiao Ke, Li Baohua, and Li Dezhong. To ensure history is never forgotten, with the help and support of comrades like Li Baohua and Li Dezhong, the provincial Party committee and government placed great emphasis on this project. Departments at the provincial, municipal, and county levels, along with relevant experts, visited Landao Stone multiple times to conduct on-site investigations, gather historical materials, and in the autumn of 2005, construction began on the Historical Exhibition Hall of the CCP North China Bureau. The main hall opened on May 1, 2008.

The exhibition hall has a total floor area of 1,200 square meters, spread across two floors, with three major exhibition halls, as well as a reception hall and a film screening room. Through comprehensive display methods, the hall systematically showcases the glorious history of how, under the leadership of the CCP North China Bureau during the War of Resistance Against Japan, various undertakings in the Shanxi-Chahar-Hebei Base Area—including governance, economy, education, culture, and health—were established, improved, and developed. This area was hailed by the CCP Central Committee as a “model anti-Japanese base behind enemy lines and a model united front zone.”

The protection and opening of the exhibition hall and the former residences have enriched the content of red tourism and patriotic education. Since its opening, the site has received nearly one million visitors cumulatively. In 2008, the exhibition hall and former residences were designated as a patriotic education base and a moral education practice base for minors in Shijiazhuang City. In 2012, it was listed as a national defense education base in Hebei Province, and in 2013, it became a patriotic education base in Hebei Province. (By Shi Yongqin, Jishengtang)

Landao Stone Village: The Village Committee of Landao Stone in Jiaotanzhuang Town, Pingshan County, is located in the mountainous northwest region of Pingshan County and is an administrative village under the jurisdiction of the Jiaotanzhuang Town People’s Government. It is also the site of the former headquarters of the CCP Jin-Cha-Ji North China Bureau. Landao Stone Village borders Huangjiagou Village to the east, Taibaoling and Junchagou Villages to the north, Ji’An Village to the south, and Jiaotanzhuang Village to the west.
