Xinyue Jade Emperor Hall

The Xinyue Jade Emperor Hall is a cultural relic protection unit of Hebei Province.

In Cheng'an Town, Xinyue City, there stands an ancient elevated site — the Jade Emperor Temple, also commonly known as the "Fire God Temple." On the 28th day of the fourth lunar month every year, a grand fair is held here. Devotees from both within and beyond the town flock to the site, kneeling not before dilapidated eaves and shabby walls, but before the immortal elegance passed down from the Zhenguan era of the Tang Dynasty. Although the current main hall on the high platform is a remnant of the Yuan Dynasty and has largely been lost, the temple complex in the Qing Dynasty once comprised “over forty halls, more than seventy statues of deities, three stages, and surrounding walls extending over a hundred zhang.” Several stone steles from the Guangxu era are arranged beneath ancient cypresses, their clearly inscribed texts prominently showing that the temple’s most recent major renovation was completed just a hundred years ago.
