Iron Merchants' Guild Hall

The Iron Merchants' Guild Hall is a cultural relic protection unit of Hebei Province.

Lüquan was nationally renowned in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, situated at the major transport hub connecting Shanxi, Shaanxi, and Hebei. It was especially famous for its iron goods trade. At that time, many wealthy iron merchants from Shanxi pooled their resources to build a guild hall in Huolu. It served as a gathering and residential place for Shanxi merchants doing business there, as well as a commercial center for trade.

The Iron Merchants' Guild Hall was first built in the second year of the Yongzheng reign, or 1724 AD, covering a total area of 1,450 square meters. The activities of the iron merchants continued here for about two hundred years until the Republic of China era. After 1915, with the construction of railways, the “inland port” gradually declined.
