Tianhu Ancient City

TIANHU ANCIENT CITY Tianhu Ancient City is located in Tianhu District, Mining District, Shijiazhuang City, covering an area of approximately 220,000 square meters. It was established during the Warring States Period by the State of Zhao and was initially called "Wuxing City." According to historical records, at the beginning of the Western Han Dynasty, the seat of Jingxing County government was established here, in what is today's Tianhu Village. It was named Jingxing because "the area is high on all sides but low in the center, resembling the depth of a well or the shape of a kitchen stove." During the Sui Kaihuang era, it was renamed Tianhu. In the eighth year of the Xining reign of the Song Dynasty (1075 AD), Jingxing County was re-established, and the county seat was relocated to Tianchang Town (today’s Jingxing Chengguan). After the relocation of the county seat, Tianhu City gradually declined. Today, remnants of the city wall can still be found in the northwest corner of the village. The earthen platform stands about 3 meters high, 12 meters long, and 4 meters wide.
