Former Site of the Japanese Military Police Headquarters in Shijiazhuang

The Former Site of the Japanese Military Police Headquarters in Shijiazhuang is a cultural relic protection unit of Hebei Province.

Built during the Republican era and located on Minsheng Road, it was originally the Hebei Guild Hall. Featuring wooden staircases, well-preserved brick carvings, and wooden railings, with fourteen rooms spread across two floors, it was one of the best buildings of its time. After the Japanese army captured Shijiazhuang, it became the Military Police Headquarters. Across from the Hebei Guild Hall was the Shengguang Cinema. In 1930, Shijiazhuang’s first privately-owned cinema appeared, and Shimen Shengguang Cinema was one of the earliest cinemas in the city. On March 12, 1933, Chiang Kai-shek held a memorial service for Sun Yat-sen at the Shengguang Cinema.

The Hebei Guild Hall (Japanese - former site) was designated as a key cultural relic protection unit of Hebei Province on October 23, 2008.
