Relic Temple Ruins

The Relic Temple Ruins are a cultural relic protection unit of Zhengding County.

Designated as a county-level key cultural relic protection unit on May 10, 1995, by the People's Government of Zhengding County

Located in the northwest corner of Zhengding city, it was built in the early Tang Dynasty and is commonly known as the Rear Temple. The reliquary stupa of Master Jinniu stands to the west of the hall, over ten feet high, locally referred to as the “Monks’ Tomb.” Emperors Taizu and Chengzu of the Ming Dynasty successively ordered Xiahou Zhoudexing to retrieve two relics. In the early years of the Yongle era (around 1405 AD), eunuch Yang Sheng was sent to renovate the stupa and hall, and bestowed the plaque “Tianning Relics.” Due to long-term neglect, the temple structures no longer exist, leaving only one stupa base. To accommodate urban infrastructure development, and with approval from the provincial cultural relics bureau, the Cultural Relics Protection Office conducted an emergency excavation here in 1995, unearthing a stone reliquary box.
