Martyrs' Monument to Zhang Bochen

The Martyrs' Monument to Zhang Bochen is a cultural tourism attraction and a classic site of red tourism.

Zhang Bochen, born in 1905 in Xuejiadong, Songzi City, joined the Chinese Communist Party in May 1927. On the 12th of that month, he presided over the establishment of the first Party branch in Songzi County. In February and March 1928, he served as a member of the Special Branch Committee of the CCP Songzi County Committee, a member of the CCP Songzi County Committee, Secretary of the Special Branch of the Communist Youth League in Songzi County, and Secretary of the Communist Youth League Songzi County Committee. In June, he was appointed Commander-in-Chief of the Red Self-Defense Forces of Songzi County, participating in leading the Jiulinggang Uprising. In the spring of 1930, he joined the Fourth Army of the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army, serving as a regimental commander, and was killed in battle in Shashi in September. This monument has been erected in his honor. The adjutant character in the movie "Red Guards of Honghu" is based on Zhang Bochen.
