The Monument to the Jiulinggang Uprising is a classic site of red tourism.

The memorial site of the Jiulinggang Peasant Uprising is located in Shuangshi, Beizha, and Jiuling villages in Yishui Town. The main peak, Xiucaitang, extends southward with 18 ridges and nine hills, hence the name Jiulinggang. In early 1928, after the establishment of the Songzi County Committee of the Communist Party, a Party branch was set up here. Soon after, the county committee headquarters moved from Jiehe City to this area. In May, in accordance with the expanded meeting spirit of the Hubei-West Special Committee, the Party organizations of Songzi, Zhijiang, and Yidu counties jointly held a preparatory meeting for the uprising, deciding to launch simultaneous uprisings on the lunar Mid-Autumn Festival and establishing the uprising’s general command at Jiulinggang. However, the plan was leaked prematurely, and the people of Jiulinggang rose up ahead of schedule but were brutally suppressed. Nonetheless, it marked a glorious chapter in the revolutionary struggle of Songzi. To honor the martyrs’ spirit and educate future generations, in 1988, the county government erected a monument at Jiulinggang as a memorial.

Beizha Village: Beizha Village is located on the northern shore of the Yishui Reservoir, in the core area of the Yishui Scenic Zone. It covers a land area of 9 square kilometers, including 1,647 mu of arable land and 12,400 mu of forested land. The village currently has 9 villager groups, with 475 households and a population of 1,875. It is a beautiful mountain village that combines characteristics of a reservoir area, old revolutionary base, and scenic zone.

In recent years, Beizha Village has actively sought project support from higher authorities, investing over 6 million yuan in total. This has funded the construction of 6.4 kilometers of new cement roads connecting the village, implemented the consolidation of 500 mu of farmland, built 100 mu of grain fields for returning farmland to forest, and constructed 280 biogas pits...
