The former site of the Jiulinggang Uprising Command is a patriotic education base.

The former sites of the Songzi County Committee of the CPC, the Songzi County Soviet Government, and the Jiulinggang Uprising Command are located in Group 2, Beizha Village, Yishui Town, Songzi City, Jingzhou, Hubei Province.

In late February 1928, the Songzi County Committee of the CPC was officially established. After its formation, armed uprisings were placed on the agenda and repeatedly deliberated as the committee’s primary task. Initially, the Songzi County Committee was headquartered in Jiehe Market. To better lead the armed struggle, in May 1928, the committee moved its base to Jiulinggang, which then became the seat of the county committee. Before long, the Hubei-West Special Committee convened a joint uprising meeting for Songzi, Zhijiang, and Yidu counties here, formulating specific plans for the revolt. The meeting decided that the three counties would continue preparations separately and launch simultaneous actions on the Mid-Autumn Festival (September 28) of the lunar calendar. The plan was to suppress local tyrants and evil gentry, seize militia arms, and then march toward the Hunan-Hubei border to join forces with the Worker-Peasant Revolutionary Army led by He Long. On June 17, due to the accidental leakage of information by Wang Changyong, a Communist Party member and courier, the uprising was forced to begin ahead of schedule. The county committee immediately announced the establishment of the Soviet government and set up the uprising command, appointing Zhang Bochen as the overall commander. This site then became the headquarters for both the Songzi County Soviet Government and the uprising command.

In March 1995, the former sites of the Songzi County Committee of the CPC, the Songzi County Soviet Government, and the Jiulinggang Uprising Command were designated as a patriotic education base of Songzi County by the Songzi County People's Government.
