Xiangshan Museum

Xiangshan Museum is a national AAA-level tourist attraction.

Yunmeng Xiangshan Museum is located on Longgang Road in the eastern part of the city. Construction began in 2005. The museum was designed and built with a donation of nearly 40 million yuan from Mr. Ouyang Xiangshan, a successful native of Yunmeng and president of Shenzhen Meili Group, while the county government invested 20 million yuan in infrastructure development. The Xiangshan Museum covers a total area of 35 mu, with a building area of 18,000 square meters. It features an architectural style modeled after the Tang Dynasty—grand and majestic in scale—and is the largest and highest-standard county-level museum in Hubei Province.

The main structures of the Xiangshan Museum include a four-story central main hall building spanning 14,000 square meters, a 1,300-square-meter office management building, and over 2,000 square meters of auxiliary buildings. The entire structure is a reinforced concrete frame system with marble exterior walls and grayish-green tile roofing. The central main hall gradually decreases in floor area from the bottom up. The second-floor exterior is adorned with four large bronze relief panels depicting Yunmeng’s cultural history. Each floor above the second has a terrace surrounded by white marble railings. At the southeast and northwest corners of the second-floor terrace are auxiliary buildings. The entire complex exudes an air of simplicity and dignity, with a uniquely distinctive architectural style.

The exhibition layout of the Xiangshan Museum is divided into two parts: historical exhibitions and planning exhibitions, showcasing respectively the historical charm of Yunmeng and the achievements of reform and opening-up. The historical exhibition area consists of six sections: Tales of Yunmeng History, A Branch Capital of the Chu Kingdom, Ancient City of Yunmeng, Eastern Han Pottery Towers, Splendid Cultural Heritage, and Millennium Heroes. The planning exhibition area includes nine sections: Care from Leaders, Milestones of Development, Old City New Look, Construction Achievements, Urban Planning Exhibition Area, Four-in-One Sand Table, Cinema, Key Projects and Investment Promotion, and Visitor Message Board.
