Quyang River Park

Quyang River Park was initially called Yunmeng Park and was built in the early 2000s. The park is situated alongside the road and the river — the river being the Quyang River and the road being Huangxiang Avenue, with the park nestled in between.

Quyang River Park starts from Ziwen Road in the northwest of the county town and extends southeast to Zixu Avenue in Wuluo Town. The 10-kilometer Huangxiang Avenue Scenic Belt is a key project in Yunmeng County’s efforts to develop cultural tourism and build itself into a renowned tourist destination. The park design follows the overall concept of "A Millennium of Yunmeng Marshes, Ten Miles along the Quyang River," using the history of Yunmeng as its axis to recreate the area’s historical culture and natural scenery. A rubber dam was built on the Fuhe River, and water was diverted into the city from the Huanggang Sluice at the northwest corner, forming a 20-kilometer loop of water around the urban area. At the same time, it connects with the nearby Yangjia Lake, Zhengjia Lake, and Quyang Lake, and relies on the “Three Lakes Linked to the (Fuhe) River” to construct features such as water-friendly platforms, cultural corridors, ecological parks, and lakeside oases. The scenic zones along the avenue are divided into four sections: the main historical and cultural exhibition section, which includes the Welcome Plaza, the Chu-Qin Forbidden Garden, and the Qin Bamboo Slips Plaza; the historical figures exhibition section, featuring bronze statues of iconic figures representing loyalty, filial piety, benevolence, and righteousness; the contemporary Yunmeng exhibition section, symbolized by themes such as Harmonious Yunmeng, Starry Splendor, Well-being Through the Seasons, and the Dragon Soaring into the New Century; and the Jianxin Canal scenic section, which includes the Phoenix Terrace Plaza and the Reclining Deer and Standing Bird Sculpture Plaza.

Quyang River Park consists of three parallel elements: Huangxiang Avenue, the Quyang River (the lower section known as Nvergang), and the green landscape belt in between, covering a total area of over 1,200 acres. The park stretches 8,957 meters from Ziwen Road in the north to Nvergang in Wuluo Temple in the south, with a width of about 80–100 meters. The main road (Huangxiang Avenue) is 28 meters wide. Between the main road and the Quyang River (Nvergang) lies a 50–80 meter-wide green landscape belt, featuring historical and contemporary display sections. Major attractions include the Douziwen Cultural Area, the Qin Bamboo Slips Cultural Area, the Huangxiang Cultural Area, the General Wu Luxian Platform, the Civic Center Plaza, the Yunmeng Shadow Puppetry Stone Carving Group, and modern pavilions and corridors.

Quyang River Park is divided into northern and southern sections by the Sanhu Bridge on Jianshe East Road, with the northern part themed around ancient culture and the southern part around modern culture. The northern ancient culture section consists of four sub-parks (gardens): the Dou Gong Garden, the Qin Bamboo Slips Garden, the Huangxiang Garden, and the General Wu Luxian Platform. In the southwest center of these four gardens lies the recently expanded and constructed “Huangxiang Lake Park,” covering an area of about 200 acres. About 500 meters northwest of “Huangxiang Lake” is the over-100-acre complex of antique-style buildings of the “Yuntai Mountain Temple.”

Climbing three steps up from the southwest bank of Sanhu Bridge and looking northwest, the first attraction you see is the “General Platform” of Wu Luxian, commander of the Sixth Division of the Late Qing New Army. Past the General Platform Garden is the Huangxiang Garden, where you can see stone statues depicting Huang Xiang presenting a memorial to the emperor, outlining governance strategies, with court officials leaning in to listen attentively. In front of the Huang Xiang bronze statue is a large stone stele, with a teahouse on the front side whose walls are painted with murals illustrating Huang Xiang’s filial piety and loyalty. Walking across a sturdy glass pathway leads to the “Qin Bamboo Slips Garden” and the “Dou Gong Garden,” showcasing the world-shocking Qin bamboo slips unearthed from the Sleeping Tiger Site in Yunmeng.

Quyang River

From Sanhu Bridge heading southeast, the scenic spots in Quyang River Park include Dream Lake, the Hundred-Step Tower on the lake’s islet, the grand “Xiangshan Museum,” the Chusheng Hall, the Central Plaza, and Yunmeng shadow puppet carvings. The entire park combines antique architecture with modern construction, blending ancient culture with contemporary life, allowing visitors to experience the profound richness of Chinese culture while enjoying leisure time.
