Yunmeng County Museum

Yunmeng County Museum is located in Wenhua Lane, Wenhua Road, south of Yunmeng County. It houses precious cultural relics such as the Qin bamboo slips from the Shuihudi site.

Collection Highlights

Shuihudi Qin Slips Unearthed in December 1975 in Shuihudi, Yunmeng, the slips numbered 1,155. All texts were written in ink and include titles such as “Chronological Record” and “Legal Q&A,” comprising ten types. The content is extremely rich, reflecting various aspects of politics, military affairs, economy, and culture from the reforms of Shang Yang to the unification of China by the Qin Dynasty over a century. This was the first discovery of its kind in China. In 1999, the Yunmeng Qin Slips were listed by the National Cultural Heritage Administration as one of the top ten archaeological discoveries in China on the 50th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic.

Lacquerware from the Qin Dynasty. Since 1975, more than 560 pieces of lacquerware have been unearthed in Yunmeng. The bases are made of wood, bamboo, or composite layers, and most feature exquisite painted patterns.

Polished Colored Pottery from the Warring States Period. Unearthed in 1978, this is a complete set of imitation bronze ritual pottery, including vessels such as tripods, wine containers, pitchers, and covered bean-shaped vessels. Most are polished colored pottery with bright colors, smooth patterns, exquisite craftsmanship, and excellent preservation, making them masterpieces among pottery artifacts.

Pottery Tower from the Eastern Han Dynasty. It consists of two sections: the front section is the main body with three bays wide and two stories high, while the rear section features a three-story tower-like watchtower. Facilities such as a kitchen, toilet, and pigsty are all available. The entire structure is large in scale and uniquely designed, showcasing typical characteristics of ancient Jianghan inland plain architecture and holding significant research value in architectural history.

Honors and Recognition

In December 2020, it was included in the list of the “Fourth Batch of National Third-Class Museums.”
