Sanjiang Eco-Tourism Resort

Sanjiang Eco-Tourism Resort is a national AAA-level tourist attraction.

The Sanjiang Eco-Tourism Resort in Qichun County, Hubei Province, is located in Qichun County, Huanggang City, Hubei Province. Construction began in 2008, and in 2009 it was rated as a National 3A-level Tourist Attraction by the National Tourism Administration. In 2010, it was awarded the title of “Outstanding Enterprise for Returnee Entrepreneurship” by the Hubei Provincial Committee and the People’s Government of Hubei Province. It was also the first in Hubei Province to be designated as a Health Demonstration Scenic Area, an Eco-Civilization Education Base, and a Research and Development Base for Medicinal Diet Therapy by the Hubei Academy of Medicinal Diet Studies.

The Sanjiang Eco-Tourism Resort is located on the eastern edge of eastern Hubei, at the southern foot of the Dabie Mountains and the northern bank of the middle reaches of the Yangtze River. This area spans three provinces within a few steps and encompasses eight mountains on its land. To the east, it borders Wuxue and Jiujiang in Jiangxi; to the north, Anhui's Taihu; to the west, Xishui; and to the south, Yangxin and Huangshi. Known as the border between the ancient states of Wu and Chu, this region has long been a strategic military location. The resort is situated in Gaoshanpu, 5 kilometers southeast of Caohé Town, the county seat of Qichun. Traveling from Wuxue to Hankou, one must pass through a valley flanked by the towering Longding Mountain, Dawang Mountain, Ma’ao Mountain, Mayin Mountain, Maqi Mountain, Ziyu Mountain, Boji Tip, and Hongwu Nao. Along this route, the valley forms a narrow passage stretching 14 li in length and 2–3 li in width, with mountains standing opposite each other from north to south and closing in tightly from east to west. Since ancient times, this valley has been a vital overland gateway from Wu into Chu, characterized by extremely rugged terrain and renowned as a strategic stronghold where “a single brave man could hold the pass against ten thousand.” Over the 500 years from the late Yuan Dynasty to 1947, seven major battles took place here. The scenic area features beautiful mountains and clear waters, offering pleasant scenery.

There are no actual rivers named the Three Rivers—the water of the Three Rivers comes from the heavens. The “One Spring,” “Two Streams,” and “Three Lakes” of the Three Rivers are all ingeniously arranged by human hands; the 36 surrounding mountain ranges are naturally formed. The main peak, standing 108 meters tall, stands alone in splendor, surrounded by a sea of pine trees and drifting clouds. This is the heart of the Sanjiang Eco-Resort.

The Sanjiang Resort gets its name from the three brothers of the Jiang family, who developed the resort by drawing on the waters of the three bays—Jiangwan, Jianglaowan, and Jiangxinzhan—as an allusion to the saying “prosperity flows endlessly like rivers converging from three directions.” The area features undulating mountains, uniquely shaped peaks and rocks; cascading waterfalls and springs, crisscrossing streams with crystal-clear, sweet-tasting water; lush forests, vibrant mountain flowers, birdsong, and butterflies dancing—displaying the enchanting beauty of nature. Eighteen scenic spots within the resort, including the Sanjiang Water Village, Tongxin Forest, Azalea Mountain, Dragon-Phoenix Bridge, Shen tong Spring, Shen Tong Tomb, Folk Custom Workshop, Wolong Platform, Dayu King Pavilion, Scholars’ Hall, Filial Piety Archway, Nine-Arch Lotus Pond, Ten-Thousand-Meter Great Wall, Hundred-Herb Corridor, Mandarin Duck Pavilion, Dongshan Hunting Ground, Ancient Vine Plank Path, and Fushou Palace Waterfall, are truly spectacular—earning the resort the reputation that “the beauty of Sanjiang surpasses that of heaven.”

The Sanjiang Eco-Resort has become one of the well-known tourist attractions in Hubei Province, rich in flora and fauna resources. The resort not only preserves its original, wild, and rugged natural landscape but also features over 10,000 precious ornamental plants; more than 15,000 artistic potted plants; 400 acres of nanmu and Qichun bamboo plantations; and over 500 acres of ecological forest landscapes such as orchards and forest gardens. A significant investment has also been made to build the Jiangwan Song-Listening Ancient House Wellness Center. As a result, the resort’s lakes are teeming with pairs of mandarin ducks, and peacocks spread their vibrant tails at the foot of the Great Wall. Small horses, goats, rabbits, pangolins, civets, black ducks, and other wild animals roam freely. The vegetation thrives abundantly, with over 700 species, including more than 10 types of rare trees such as Yinan and Kuting tea. Stepping into the resort, visitors are greeted not only by overlapping peaks, lush woods, cascading waterfalls, and crisscrossing streams, but also by thousands of rare potted plants scattered throughout and millions of blooming flowers across the mountains.
