The Sakyamuni Relic Pagoda on Yangjiaojian is a cultural relic protection unit of Hubei Province.

Sakyamuni Relic Pagoda on Yangjiaojian

Located in Tongzui Village, Xiangqiao Township, Qichun County, this is a tomb pagoda from the Yuan Dynasty, with only the underground chamber remaining. Built of blue bricks, the structure has a circular floor plan, a dome ceiling, an inner diameter of 3 meters, and a hollow height of 1.6–1.8 meters. The inner wall features two layers of niches, totaling 47 small recesses that house 32 small stone coffins containing relics. The pagoda gathers the sacred remains of eminent monks from several temples over generations, including Renshou, Dongshan, Baolin, Honghui, and Dazhu Temple. Its large scale and the significant number of relics it contains are rare in the Hubei region, providing important physical evidence for the study of Buddhism’s spread in eastern Hubei and local religious customs.
