Xiaomaopoying Miao Village

Xiaomaopoying Miao Village is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Hubei Province.

Xiaomaopoying Miao Village

Located in Xiaomaopoying Village, Gaoluo Township, Xuan'en County. It was first built during the Qing Dynasty. The village consists of three hilltops and one valley, with nearly fifty houses scattered along the stream, up the hillsides, and to the mountaintops. The houses are wooden stilted structures with tiled roofs, mostly consisting of a main house and wing rooms forming courtyards, with many of the wing rooms being stilted buildings. Public buildings in the Miao village include the village gate, a bilingual school, simple bridges, and relatively large-scale water conservancy facilities. This village is the best-preserved Miao settlement in western Hubei and serves as a microcosm of the historical development of Miao architecture, as well as a concentrated representation of its architectural styles and artistry.
