Xuan’en Covered Bridge

Xuan’en Covered Bridge is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Hubei Province.

Xuan’en Covered Bridge

Located in Xuan’en County, it comprises five ancient bridges. (Fifth Batch) Hongjun Bridge is located in Lifu Village, Lijiahe Township, built during the Republic of China era, spanning north-south over a tributary of the You River. It is 10.5 meters long and 2.72 meters wide. Yaojiawan Bridge is located in Huikou Village, Changtanhe Dong Autonomous Township, initially constructed during the Guangxu era, with a bridge length of 18 meters. Wangjiazhai Bridge is located in Wangjiazhai, Lianghe Village, Shadaogou Town, built in 1933. It is 9.8 meters long and 3.2 meters wide. Jiangke Bridge is located in Jiangke Village, Xiaoguan Dong Autonomous Township. It was built in the early years of the Republic of China, is 20 meters long and 3 meters wide. Jiangjun Bridge is located in Songping Village, Shadaogou Town, built during the Qing Dynasty, is 11 meters long and 3.1 meters wide. The covered bridges of Xuan’en are all rationally designed, and their architectural artistry and surrounding environments reflect the unique aesthetic values and creativity of the Tujia people.
