Zhengzhou Green Expo Garden is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.

Zhengzhou · China Green Expo Garden, abbreviated as Zhengzhou Green Expo Garden, is located in the core area of Zhengzhou New District, specifically within the ecological green belt between the Baisha and Guandu clusters of the Zhengzhou-Zhengzhou-Xinxiang Industrial Belt, east of downtown Zhengzhou. It lies to the east of Wansan Road (planned new National Highway 107), south of Central Avenue (Zhengzhou-Zhengzhou-Xinxiang Logistics Corridor), and on both sides of Renwen Road. The total area of the park is 196 hectares. Construction began on August 26, 2009, and it was completed before September 25, 2010.

The planning and design of the Green Expo Park are based on ecology, emphasizing demonstration, extending leisure, highlighting culture and technology, and incorporating the concepts of green life, green living, green economy, green homes, and green technology. It fully reflects the theme of "letting green become part of our lives." The green landscape structure is divided into “one lake, two axes, three rings, eight zones, and sixteen scenes.”

The one lake is the central lake area, “Maple Lake.”

The two axes are the “Green Declaration” landscape axis and the “Mountains and Waters of the Central Plains” landscape axis. The two axes intersect at Maple Lake, forming the visual center of the entire park.

The three rings are three landscape loops: the inner landscape ring showcases the “Green Expo” scenery of lake and mountain views. The middle landscape ring mainly consists of various exhibition gardens, representing the essence of the “Green Expo Garden.” The outer landscape ring is a background forest belt, serving as the large green backdrop for the entire park.

The eight zones: the park is divided into eight areas — the entrance zone, Maple Lake zone, exhibition garden zone, wetland zone, background forest zone, green living experience zone, leisure and entertainment zone, and seedling and flower trading zone.

The sixteen scenes: refer to the outer eight scenes and the lakeside eight scenes. The outer eight scenes are those outside the inner ring, including the Yixiu Pavilion, Peach Blossom Land, Colorful Earth, Fruit Orchard Flower Stream, Forest Theater, Science Education Garden, North Entrance, and East Entrance. The lakeside eight scenes include Maple Lake Peninsula, Sunshine Beach, Ecological Floating Island, Viewing Platform, Performance Center, East Dock, West Dock, and South Dock. The central lake features flowing water encircling it, shimmering blue waves, integration of water and greenery, and a blend of slopes and islands. Based on the regulatory plan layout, the structure is reinforced, functions are clarified, scenic spots are implemented, and the landscape is enhanced. This forms the layout of the Green Expo Garden as “one lake, two axes, three rings, eight zones, and sixteen scenes,” ensuring clear functional zoning, distinct spatial structure, and outstanding landscape features. At that time, all provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities directly under the central government, as well as Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan regions, cities specifically designated in the state plan, national model cities for greening, major domestic enterprises and departments, international sister cities of Henan Province and Zhengzhou City, and ancient capital cities of Henan Province will be invited to build premium garden landscapes that reflect the local characteristics of their respective provinces, cities, enterprises, and departments.

Zhengzhou Green Expo Garden covers an area of 2,939 mu, equivalent to the combined size of Bishagang Park, People’s Park, and Zijingshan Park within Zhengzhou’s urban area. Construction began on August 26, 2009, with a total investment of 1.4 billion yuan. The park not only includes 86 permanent exhibition gardens built by various provinces, cities, and related industries across the country, as well as 8 international sister cities, but also features a variety of main architectural projects such as an observation tower, exhibition hall, musical fountain, and comprehensive service center. Over 635,000 plants of more than 700 varieties of greenery have been planted, and the excavated Maple Lake in the park has a water surface area of over 260 mu.

Fun Bridge World

“Fun Bridge World” is thrilling, dreamlike, and novel, bringing unprecedented joy. That kind of thrill and happiness cannot be described in words or writing to portray such a real Fun Bridge World — only by being there can you feel that tangible sensation. Twenty bridges of different shapes and varied functions, such as the Roller Bridge, Couple Bridge, Five Rings Bridge, Hand Hoist Bridge, and Pile Hanging Bridge, will spark your desire to give them a try.

Fun Bridge World is a large-scale amusement facility heavily invested in by the Green Expo Garden in 2013 and officially opened to the public on May 1, 2013. Fun Bridge World consists of a combination of twenty bridges, each with a unique shape, name, and design, all with distinctive features. In addition to offering a refreshing experience in color and form, the focus of the fun is on strong visitor participation and the challenging difficulty levels of crossing the bridges. There is the intimidating Five Rings Bridge for those afraid of heights; the Pile Hanging Bridge that combines strength and balance; the Ring Drill Bridge that tests body flexibility; and the Couple Bridge that requires two people holding hands to cross, among others. It is highly attractive to people of different ages, interests, and courage levels.

Climate Conditions

The Green Expo Garden area has a typical warm temperate continental monsoon climate, with distinct seasons. Springs are dry and windy; summers are hot and rainy; autumns are cool and refreshing; winters are cold and dry. The annual average temperature is 14.2°C, with an extreme minimum temperature of -17.9°C (on January 2, 1955, and December 27, 1971), and an extreme maximum temperature of 43°C (on June 19, 1966). The region has an average frost-free period of 227 days per year, with the first frost occurring around November 11 and the last frost around March 28. The average ground temperature is 16.1°C, with an average of 81 freezing days per year and a frost depth of 10 cm.

The area experiences frequent winds in spring, autumn, and winter, with an average annual wind speed of 2.5 m/s. Winds mostly come from the north, especially in December and January, with maximum wind force reaching level 8–9 and wind speeds of 24 m/s. Northwest and northeast winds are more common in winter and spring, with northwest winds accounting for 63% of the frequency. Southeast or southerly winds are more prevalent in summer and autumn, with wind force levels of 2–3, and fewer occurrences of level 8 gales. Strong winds in winter and spring often cause sandstorms or dust storms, while those in summer and autumn are often accompanied by thunderstorms or hail.

The area has an average annual sunshine duration of 2,385.3 hours, with a sunshine rate of 54%.

The area has an average annual precipitation of 649.9 mm, with the highest annual rainfall recorded at 1,041.3 mm (in 1964) and the lowest at 384.8 mm (in 1986). Most of the annual precipitation is concentrated from June to September, averaging 421.7 mm, accounting for 64.9% of the annual total, with July being the wettest month. The average annual evaporation is 1,508 mm, peaking in June at 201.3 mm and reaching its lowest in February at 61.6 mm. The average absolute humidity is 12.6%, and the relative humidity of the air is 66.0%.

Water Conservancy Conditions

The park is adjacent to the Yellow River Diversion Canal to the east and close to the Jialu River to the southwest. Under normal conditions, the groundwater level is between 4–6 m, dropping to less than 2 m during the wet season. Underground water resources are relatively abundant, but the area is prone to internal flooding during the wet season.

Transportation Conditions

Zhengzhou Green Expo Garden is located in the core area of the Zhengzhou-Zhengzhou-Xinxiang New District, 2 km south of Zhengkai Avenue, west of National Highway 107, north of the Zhengzhou-Zhengzhou-Xinxiang Logistics Channel, and east of Renwen Road in Zhongmu County. The Green Expo Garden is approximately 2 km north of the Green Expo Garden Station on the Zhengkai Intercity Railway.
