Chinese stone painting art was pioneered by Mr. Yang Zhongyou. To date, it remains a unique art form both in China and abroad. Upon entering the Yang Zhongyou Stone Painting Art Gallery, the first thing you see is the inscription from the then Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission in 1999 — “Outstanding and One of a Kind” — carved on an iron-red Zhihu stone. A prominent sign in the first-floor exhibition hall displays the gallery’s mission — to spread a culture of harmony and interpret the philosophy of Laozi. The first and second floors showcase over 150 stone paintings and dozens of calligraphy works that expound on the Dao De Jing. Each piece is creative, exuding natural charm and the essence of Chinese culture. Truly distinctive and one of a kind, these artworks embody poetry, philosophy, purity, harmony, elegance, wonder, integrity, and grandeur.
