Zhongyuan Giant Iron Buddha Temple

The Zhongyuan Giant Iron Buddha Temple is a national AA-level tourist attraction and a cultural tourism site.

The Zhongyuan Giant Iron Buddha Temple is located 9 kilometers north of Changge City, within Guanting Village, Guanting Township. It lies adjacent to the Beijing-Guangzhou Railway to the west and connects with the Fuoergang Reservoir to the east. Situated among the provincial capital Zhengzhou, the ancient capital Kaifeng, and the Wei capital Xuchang, it enjoys very convenient transportation. Originally built during the Zhenguan era of the Tang Dynasty, the temple flourished in the Song Dynasty and reached its peak during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. It shares spiritual lineage with Dengfeng’s 0 King Temple, embodying the vitality of a prosperous era, and is hailed as a sacred land where a coiled dragon, a resting phoenix, and a lying turtle converge. In October 2002, the Municipal Party Committee United Front Work Department, the Religious Affairs Bureau, and the Guanting Township Government jointly invested over 200,000 yuan to excavate a water diversion and replenishment project 50 meters in front of the temple. One goal was to support the water of Longtan (Dragon Pool) to create the Reclining Dragon scenic spot, and the other was to connect it with the Fuoergang Reservoir scenic area.
