Kaifeng Song Embroidery Art Museum

Located in Wangfen Village, Beijiao Township, Longting District, the Kaifeng Song Embroidery Art Museum is the first private embroidery art museum in Kaifeng, founded by Wang Suhua, a Master of Chinese Arts and Crafts. The museum houses a large collection of folk Song embroidery works as well as pieces from different periods of Wang Suhua’s career.

Song embroidery originated in the Northern Song Dynasty, and Bian embroidery evolved from Song embroidery. Since the 1950s, Wang Suhua has been collecting embroidery pieces from folk sources, studying stitching techniques, and particularly since her retirement in 1990, she has gradually accumulated many more items over the years, providing vivid and authentic references for future generations to inherit and develop China’s embroidery heritage. She also replicated eight Song Dynasty embroidery pieces treasured at the National Palace Museum in Taiwan, which have become prized exhibits in the museum.

Beijiao Township: Located at Kaifeng’s northern gateway, Beijiao Township enjoys a prime geographical location and convenient transportation. Kaifeng’s first major road—Dongjing Avenue—runs east-west across the township, Kailiu Road runs north-south, and the city’s newly planned six-lane Fuxing Avenue passes through the area. It connects to National Highway 106 to the east and the entrance to Expressway 310 to the west, forming an extensive transportation network. The township has achieved full coverage of electricity, roads, landline telephones, and cable TV in every village.
