Kaifeng Wangtong Folk Museum was originally located on the first floor of the exhibition center in the backyard of the old Kaifeng Museum. In 2017, it was relocated to the Wansuishan Scenic Area in Kaifeng City. The museum is dedicated to the protection, research, and development of folk culture, agricultural culture, ancient pottery culture, traditional handicrafts, and intangible cultural heritage projects in Henan and surrounding regions, and houses a collection of over 46,000 items. The Wangtong Folk Museum designs its exhibitions around the theme of “Folk Culture of the Central Plains, Hometown of Henan.” The entire exhibition area is divided into six galleries: - Ancient Rhymes – The Yellow River Ancient Pottery Culture Gallery, Great Song Artisans – Traditional Handicrafts Gallery, Transportation & Carriages – Modern Transport Tools Gallery, Bedside Aromas – Modern Bedding Gallery, Marketfolk Culture – Everyday Life Artifacts Gallery, and Fiery Years – Agricultural Propaganda Poster Gallery. It has become a stage for Central Plains folk culture and folk art to reach across China and the world.
