Red Rock Grand Canyon

Guoliang Village is perched atop the towering cliffs of the Taihang Mountains. The winding cliffs of Shayao and Nanping Towns form the Taihang Red Rock Cliff Grand Canyon. The canyon is 5 to 500 meters wide, with sheer cliffs plunging over 130 meters deep and stretching 40 kilometers long—carved as if by axe and chisel, their rocks a striking crimson hue. On the northern side of the canyon lies the Cliffside Corridor, Guoliang Tunnel. Looking south from the tunnel entrance, you can see the majestic cliffs, the thatched roofs and cooking smoke of cliffside homes, and the sturdy yellow elm trees clinging to the edge.

From the southern side of the canyon, you can see the 35 skylights of the Cliffside Corridor and the awe-inspiring sight of Guoliang Tunnel piercing through the cliffs. At the bottom of the grand canyon lies Snow Mountain Pool Waterfall, above which is a peak gorge over 100 meters deep. In winter, the pool and waterfall merge into a single icy mass. When spring arrives, the ice melts, and massive chunks crack and crash down with thunderous booms that reverberate through the canyon for a long time, creating a majestic and thrilling spectacle.
