Hui County Kuixing Pavilion

The Hui County Kuixing Pavilion is a cultural relic protection unit of Xinxiang City.

The Kuixing Pavilion is located at the top of Huashi Ridge in Nancun, Nancun Town, Hui County. Also known as Kuixing Pavilion, Kuixing Tower, or Kuwen Pavilion, it is a symbolic structure built by the people of Houzhaochuan in the northern mountainous area of Hui County to represent flourishing literary fortune. It was established in the 10th year of the Guangxu reign during the Qing Dynasty (1884). The Kuixing Pavilion is a type of stupa known as a Baoqieyinjing Pagoda, constructed from bluestone. It has five stories and six sides, with a total height of 12 meters. Each of the upper six sides is adorned with a horse-ear shaped edge decoration. A passageway entrance is open from east to west, and above both doors as well as on the northern wall of the tower, there is a cross-shaped stone-carved window. On the western wall of the tower is embedded a stone stele, measuring 0.64 meters in length and 0.40 meters in height, with the three characters “Kuixing Pavilion” inscribed horizontally. On the left and right sides are inscriptions indicating “Jointly built by Houzhaochuan” and “April, 10th Year of the Guangxu Reign, Qing Dynasty,” respectively. The fifth story is 2 meters high and features a dome-shaped steeple and a gourd-shaped finial. A staircase on the northern side of the tower leads directly to the top. Next to it is placed a stone stele titled “Inscription for the Founding of Kuwen Pavilion,” dated to the Gui Month of the 10th Year of the Guangxu Reign. In 2005, it was designated as a municipal-level cultural relic protection unit by the Xinxiang City Government.
