Kongqiu Mountain Sage Cave

Kongqiu Mountain - Sage Cave is located 11 kilometers due north of Jiaozuo and 1.5 kilometers west of Aiqu Village, Xicun Township, Xiuwu County. The main cave has been explored to a total length of over 5,000 meters, with the cave system divided into upper, middle, and lower levels. According to preliminary research by Chinese geological experts, the cave was formed by crustal movements during the Sinian Period, dating back approximately 1 billion years. Experts say that discovering such a large natural karst cave in northern China is extremely rare.

The cave runs from north to south, with three vertically interconnected levels crisscrossing in a stacked spiral formation. The passages vary in width, height, and steepness. Currently, there are over 100 named scenic spots open to visitors. The cave is densely packed with stalactites, which can be classified into four types: flowstone, stalagmite, drapery, and globular forms, mostly in white, yellow, and orange hues. The stone is predominantly crystalline horse-tooth spar. The stalactites take on countless unique shapes and forms — some resemble “a soaring phoenix in midair,” “carp playing with goldfish,” or “fairies bathing,” while others look like “a silver monkey hanging in the air,” “pearls covering the sand,” “waterfalls,” or “lotus towers.” The cave boasts a majestic, marvelous, and perilous atmosphere, along with an elegant and beautiful landscape, which will captivate your imagination and leave you lingering with unforgettable memories.
