One chrysanthemum represents a specialty industry. At a critical juncture in the transformation and upgrading of tourism, this chrysanthemum inspired Xiuwu County to think big. Efforts are underway to develop the Yuntai Ice Chrysanthemum Base into a “three-industry integrated” green agricultural project that combines efficient agricultural cultivation, processing and sales, and sightseeing. The goal is to build China’s largest green chrysanthemum industry base within three years. Relying on this specialty industry, Ice Chrysanthemum Town has emerged. In March 2016, Ice Chrysanthemum Town was officially launched. It was planned and designed by Shanghai Hemu Urban Planning and Design Co., Ltd., with a planned area of 2,000 mu. It is mainly divided into the Yuntai Ice Chrysanthemum Planting and Processing Base, Rehmannia Planting and Processing Base, Farming Culture Park, large amusement park, and homestay resort village. Among these, the Yuntai Ice Chrysanthemum Planting and Processing Base covers a total area of over 1,000 mu, with a total investment of 160 million yuan. It includes a sightseeing and tourism area, a homestay resort area, a chrysanthemum tea processing base, a constant temperature base, and a product exhibition and sales hall.

To date, the most advanced processing technology has been established within the Yuntai Ice Chrysanthemum planting base. The market prospects are broad, and the economic benefits are considerable, with an estimated annual sales revenue of 58 million yuan.

The ice chrysanthemum industry has also created employment and income opportunities for local farmers. By participating in ice chrysanthemum planting, picking, and sales, farmers have significantly increased their income. To ensure quality control from the ground up, Yuntai Ice Chrysanthemum insists on manual seedling extraction and sorting, selecting only the best of the best. In terms of weeding, Yuntai Ice Chrysanthemum rejects reliance on mechanization and chemical methods, opting instead for a “primitive” approach. The farm insists on manual weeding—once, twice, three times, four times…—to fundamentally ensure that every Yuntai Ice Chrysanthemum is green, healthy, and eco-friendly. Statistics show that during the ice chrysanthemum planting and picking season, up to 1,600 local workers are employed, generating a combined income of about 5.5 million yuan. This has greatly contributed to poverty alleviation and local economic revitalization, which is why the ice chrysanthemum base has been designated as a poverty alleviation and employment base.

Xunfeng Town has obvious locational advantages, profound farming culture, and distinctive homestay elements. With industrial support and cultural heritage, the town is well-positioned to develop a characteristic town. Xunfeng Town: Located 6 kilometers southeast of Xiuwu County, Xunfeng Town borders Wuzhi County to the south and Huojia County to the east. The town governs 19 administrative villages, covering a total area of 49.2 square kilometers with 3,133 hectares of arable land and a total population of 32,400.
