Shayudui Copper Smelting Site

The Shayudui Copper Smelting Site is a cultural heritage protection unit of Nanzhao County.

The Shayudui Copper Smelting Site is located in Shayudui Natural Village, Sangshuping Village, Nanhedian Town.

This site was among the first batch of county-level cultural heritage protection units announced by Nanzhao County in March 1980.

The site covers a total area of approximately 43,200 square meters, with large amounts of copper slag exposed on the ground, ranging in thickness from 1.2 to 1.5 meters. In the southeastern corner of the site, remnants of a brick-built copper smelting furnace can be found. The site has also yielded copper ore, crucible fragments, Han Dynasty bean handles, and Western Han Dynasty rope-patterned pottery jars. Nearby farmers have also unearthed copper hammers from the slag, which are cylindrical in shape, measuring 0.08 meters in length and 0.04 meters in diameter, with a hole in the middle.
