Taishanmiao Iron Smelting Site

The Taishanmiao Iron Smelting Site is a cultural heritage protection unit of Nanzhao County.

The Taishanmiao Iron Smelting Site is located north of Miaohou Natural Village in Taishanmiao Township.

This site was among the first batch of county-level cultural heritage protection units announced by Nanzhao County in March 1980.

The site lies east of the Ya River, south of Miaohou Natural Village, stretching 250 meters from north to south and 180 meters from east to west, covering a total area of 45,000 square meters, with a large amount of slag scattered on the surface. There is one iron smelting furnace each in the western and northern parts (both damaged, with only the foundations remaining), among which the western furnace has a remaining wall height of 0.4–0.6 meters and a diameter of about 3 meters. Scattered around are tube tiles and plate tiles from the Western Han Dynasty, ceramic rims, and porcelain shards from the Song Dynasty. It is an iron smelting site dating from the Western Han to the Song Dynasty.

Taishanmiao Township: A township under the jurisdiction of Nanzhao County. Established as Taishanmiao Commune in 1958 and restructured as a township in 1984. Located in the southeastern part of the county, it is 23 kilometers from the county seat. Covering an area of 105 square kilometers, it has a population of 37,000. The Jiaozuo-Zhicheng Railway and Henan Provincial Highway 02 pass through the area. The township administers 18 village committees, including Luogou, Xinglong, Hengshan, Baoping, Anzhuang, Caodian, Jiulishan, Taishanmiao, Zhushapu, Fengzhuang, Zhanggou, Yifeng, Luxin, Liucun, Lianggou, Luohan, Qianwan, and Xiadian, as well as one neighborhood committee, Maozhuang.
