Licun Site

The Licun Site is a cultural heritage protection unit of Nanzhao County.

The Licun Site is located 200 meters west of Licun Natural Village, Loucun Village, Huangludian Town.

This site is among the first batch of county-level cultural heritage protection units announced by Nanzhao County in March 1980.

The site covers a total area of 95,000 square meters, with a cultural layer about 1.5 to 3.5 meters thick and rich in content. A large number of red-fired earth and pottery fragments have been discovered, with red pottery accounting for about 90%. All pieces were handmade, including sand-tempered red pottery, gray pottery jar-shaped ding (tripod cauldrons) and curved-belly ding, sand-tempered jars, large sand-tempered vessels, high-necked jars, curved-belly basins, curved-belly bowls, narrow-mouthed bowls, as well as painted pottery bowls and basins. This site dates back to the middle and late periods of the Yangshao Culture from the Neolithic Age.
