Guanling Site

The Guanling Site is a cultural heritage protection unit of Henan Province.

The Guanling Site is located on Guanling Fort to the south of Yuchi Village, Cuizhuang Township.

The site is a tableland-shaped elevated area, rectangular in shape, stretching 220 meters from east to west and 630 meters from north to south, covering a total area of approximately 120,000 square meters. The cultural layer is about 8 meters thick, consisting of around 40% red pottery, 40% gray pottery, and 20% painted pottery. It can be broadly divided into four layers, which contain relatively rich contents. Each layer has distinct cultural features, indicating that primitive humans inhabited the area for a long time — roughly from the early Yangshao Culture period through to the late Longshan Culture period. In 1980, the People’s Government of Nanzhao County designated it as a county-level cultural heritage protection unit. In 2006, the People’s Government of Henan Province listed it as a provincial-level cultural heritage protection unit.

Cuizhuang Township: A township under the jurisdiction of Nanzhao County. Established as Cuizhuang Commune in 1958 and reorganized as a township in 1983. It is located in the central part of the county, 6.3 kilometers from the county seat, covering an area of 313 square kilometers with a population of 36,000. The township administers 25 village committees: Huilonggou, Cao Village, Huaping, Changlonggang, Qianhe, Li Family Village, Jingzihe, Wang Family Village, Cheng Family Village, Yuchi, Cuizhuang, Xiaolongwan, Zhang Village, Zaozhuang, Ma Liang, Zhouwan, Caomiao, Tasi, Zaipo, Han Village, Liangshichuan, Shanping, Cangfang, Nanping, and Hetaoshu.
