Yushuling Neolithic Site

The Yushuling Neolithic Site is a cultural heritage protection unit of Nanzhao County.

The Yushuling site is located on Yushuling Hill, 300 meters northwest of Miaopo Natural Village in Chengjiao Township, Nanzhao County.

This site was among the first batch of county-level cultural heritage protection units announced by Nanzhao County in March 1980.

The site covers a total area of approximately 17,782 square meters, with a cultural layer about 1.2 meters thick. Scattered across the surface are red-fired earth and pottery shards. Red pottery accounts for over 90%, and the artifacts include duck-billed tripod feet with finger-pressed patterns, narrow-mouthed basins, narrow-mouthed bowls, deep-bellied bowls with triangular cross-section rims, sand-tempered jars, bowls with a band of added coil decoration beneath the rim, straight-necked high-collared jars, bridge-shaped spouts, sand-tempered disc-shaped tripods, and cinnabar pigments. It is a site from the middle to late Yangshao Culture period.

Chengjiao Township: Chengjiao Township has a long history. From the 19th year of the Republic of China until 1953, it was part of Liqingdian District. In 1956, it was divided into Liqingdian, Luoping, and Chaigang central townships. In 1958, it came under the jurisdiction of Chengguan Commune. In 1961, the central townships were abolished and the district system was restored, placing it under Liqingdian District. In 1962, the district was abolished and reverted to Liqingdian Commune. In 1966, it was renamed Chengjiao People's Commune. In October 1983, the people's commune was changed to a township government. In March 2001, due to the expansion of Renmin Road, the original township government was relocated to the compound of Dongfeng Carpet Factory in Hedong Development Zone, and in August 2002, it moved to a new location in the southern part of the county...
