Hongfu Site

The Hongfu Site is a cultural heritage site protected by the Henan Provincial Government.

The Hongfu Site is located 250 meters northwest of Hongfuji in Yongcheng County. It is oval-shaped, running from north to south, measuring 270 meters in length and 240 meters in width, and stands 1.5 meters above the ground. The cultural layer is over 2.5 meters thick. Below 1.2 meters at the center of the site lies the Henan Mountain cultural layer. During drilling, grayish-black pottery shards were found, including one piece with a red body and black painted decoration featuring simple linear patterns, which are characteristic of the Dawenkou culture. Artifacts from the Shang, Zhou, Qin, and Han dynasties were discovered in the upper layers. Collected items include pottery shards with fine cord marks, checkered patterns, and basket weave patterns; pottery net sinkers, spinning whorls, li tripod feet, broken bean stems, bean trays, coarse cord-marked pottery shards, as well as pottery shards and tiles from the Qin and Han periods, small floral bricks and hollow brick fragments from the Han Dynasty, and Han banliang coins among other late-period relics. In 1979, an oval-shaped ash pit was discovered one meter below the surface during exploration, yielding pottery artifacts such as dou (food containers), ding (tripods), net sinkers, vessel lids, jars, and bowls, most of which featured decorative patterns. This site is a Neolithic cultural site containing painted pottery culture and has been listed as a provincial-level key cultural heritage protection unit.
