Tomb of Long Ju

Tomb of Long Ju is a cultural relics protection unit of Shandong Province.

Tomb of Long Ju, a provincial-level key cultural relics protection unit, is located in Daquan Village, Zhenggong Subdistrict. The site sits at a relatively high elevation, surrounded by farmland and adjacent to a highway, offering convenient transportation. The mound is 18 meters high, 57 meters long from north to south, and 50 meters wide from east to west, covering an area of 4.3 mu. The base of the tomb is square-shaped, with rammed earth as its fill. The northern side is relatively steep, while the southern side is well-preserved. The top of the mound is overgrown with thorny bushes and dense weeds. Locals refer to this tomb as the "Ancient King Mound" or the "Big Mound." Long Ju (?–203 BC) was a figure from the Chu-Han Contention period in Chinese history. During the struggle between the Qin and the contending states of Chu and Han, he served as a general of the Western Chu Kingdom and held the rank of Grand Marshal alongside Cao Jiu and Zhou Yin. In 206 BC, when Liu Bang, the King of Han, raised an army to pacify the Three Qins, General Long Ju of Chu, along with Wei’s minister Xiang Tai and Han general Guan Ying, fought and lost a battle south of Dingtao. In November 203 BC, Long Ju faced off against Han Xin at the Weishui River. Under the cover of night, Han Xin built an earthen dam upstream on the Weishui to block and divert its flow. He then led his troops to launch a surprise attack while pretending to retreat mid-crossing. Long Ju pursued the retreating forces, at which point Han Xin released the dam, flooding Long Ju's army. Han Xin counterattacked and killed Long Ju. Out of respect for Long Ju’s bravery and skill in battle, Han Xin erected this cenotaph in his honor. In 2007, the site was transferred from Gaomi City to Xiashan District. Tomb of Long Ju was designated as a county-level key cultural relics protection unit by the People's Government of Gaomi County in 1986, and in July 2015, it was announced as a provincial-level key cultural relics protection unit by the People's Government of Shandong Province.

Zhenggong Subdistrict: Located in the central part of the Shandong Peninsula in Weifang City, Shandong Province, Zhenggong Subdistrict was established on January 14, 2008. It lies at 119°23′ east longitude and 36°38′ north latitude, on the southeastern shore of the Xiashan Reservoir — the largest reservoir in Shandong Province — and is situated at the junction of Gaomi, Anqiu, and Zhucheng cities.
