Lujia Kou Site

The Lujia Kou Site is a cultural heritage protection unit of Shandong Province.

The Lujia Kou Site is an ancient historical site located in Weifang City, Shandong Province. It lies to the northwest of the Hanting District government seat, approximately 1 kilometer southwest of Lujia Kou Village, 0.5 kilometers east of the old course of the Bailang River, 2 kilometers west of the Bailang River, and 31.5 kilometers north of the Bohai Sea coast. It currently falls under the jurisdiction of Kaiyuan Subdistrict, Hanting District. The site sits at a relatively high elevation, surrounded by flat terrain. Judging from the ancient pottery shards and ash layers scattered on the ground, the site covers an area of about 40,000 square meters. The stratigraphic sequence of the site is relatively clear: the first layer is cultivated soil, the second layer is from the Warring States period, the third and fourth layers are from the Longshan Culture, and the fifth, sixth, and seventh layers are from the Dawenkou Culture.

Analysis of the stratigraphic sequence of the cultural layers at the site shows that the Dawenkou Culture layer lies beneath the Longshan Culture layer, indicating that the Dawenkou Culture predates the Longshan Culture and suggesting a cultural succession between the two. Based on the relics and artifacts found at the site, this cultural site dates back to the late primitive society, through the slave society, and up to the Warring States period. The site is currently a key cultural heritage protection unit of Weifang City.

In 2013, the Lujia Kou Site was designated as part of the fourth batch of provincial-level cultural heritage protection units by the People's Government of Shandong Province.

Kaiyuan Subdistrict: Located in the western part of Hanting District, Weifang City, Shandong Province, Kaiyuan Subdistrict borders the Weifang High-Tech Industrial Development Zone to the south, the Weifang Economic and Technological Development Zone to the west, and houses the Hanting Economic and Technological Development Zone within its boundaries. Established in February 2002 through the merger of the former Guojia Guanzhuang Town and Zhangshi Town, the subdistrict covers a total area of 48 square kilometers, governs 36 administrative villages and one residential community, and has a population of 31,000.
