The Dagu Revolutionary Site is situated in Daigu Village, west of Daigu Town in the core area of the Daihuang landform. It served as the former site of the headquarters of the Lu-Zhong Military District of the Eighth Route Army, along with its arsenal, uniform factory, and ammunition depot during the War of Resistance against Japan. From March to May 1940, over 8,000 troops of the stubborn faction of the Kuomintang besieged the Daigu Mountain area, where the Mengyin County Committee of the Communist Party of China and the county brigade were stationed. With Daigu Mountain as their main defensive position, the committee and brigade fought bitterly for three months. With the support of the 1st Brigade of the Shandong Column of the Eighth Route Army, they successfully broke the siege. The County Committee and brigade were commended in an official order by the Shandong Sub-bureau of the CPC Central Committee and the Shandong Column. From November 7 to 9, 1941, the 1st Battalion of the Dagu Independent Regiment of the Eighth Route Army and others held the mountain for three days and nights, repelling attacks from over a thousand Japanese troops and three regiments of the stubborn faction of the Kuomintang, and achieved a successful breakout and transfer. Chen Ruoke, a member of the Women’s Committee of the Shandong Sub-bureau and a standing committee member of the Provincial Women’s Salvation Association, was captured during the breakout. She remained steadfast in prison and heroically sacrificed herself while holding her newborn baby.

The Dagu Revolutionary Site is among the fifth batch of Shandong Provincial Cultural Relics Protection Units.
