Shanmeng Yemao Rural Tourism Area is a national AA-level tourist attraction.

Since its development and construction in 2010, under the correct leadership of the county Party committee and county government, and with the care, support, and specific guidance of the city and county tourism departments, Shanmeng Yemao Rural Tourism Area has relied on local advantages such as the “Up to the Mountains and Down to the Villages” educated youth site and the hometown of Zang Xishan, the “King of Blasting in East China.” In line with planning and the requirements for creating a national 2A-level tourist attraction, the area has accelerated the development of scenic spots, tourism supporting service facilities, and infrastructure construction. This has achieved a virtuous cycle of simultaneous development, construction, operation, and benefits, yielding positive economic, social, and ecological outcomes.

Located 25 kilometers north of the county seat and 8 kilometers southwest of the town center, Shanmeng Yemao Rural Tourism Area is situated in a village that was once a “Up to the Mountains and Down to the Villages” educated youth site and the hometown of Zang Xishan, the “King of Blasting in East China.” It is recognized as a “Three Together” (live, work, and learn together) practical education base established by Mengyin County Party Committee, a provincial-level agricultural tourism demonstration site, and a pilot village for the creation of “China’s Beautiful Villages.”

Currently, drawing on its abundant tourism resources, the area is committed to strengthening the village through tourism by developing the Maoping Agricultural Park project featuring “one ring, one axis, and three nodes”: a ten-kilometer mountain loop road encircling the area, along with three key nodes—comprehensive agricultural development highlights, natural scenery displays, and representations of prosperous living—all connected by an Internet of Things terminal axis. Additionally, the village actively promotes rural agritainment tourism, currently hosting one “Shanmeng Yemao” rural tourism professional cooperative and 18 provincial-level “Hospitality Homes” agritainment dining service sites. Moving forward, in accordance with the established tourism development plan, Shanmeng Yemao Tourism Area will be developed into a fruit-themed destination and ecologically livable home where “azure waters mirror the blue skies, green trees accent red-tiled roofs, fruit picking and leisure activities coexist, and humans and nature develop in harmony.”

Shanmeng Yemao Rural Tourism Area boasts distinctive features due to its rich and unique natural ecological resources, historical and cultural resources, celebrity and literary resources, and local specialty products.

The tourism area is surrounded by mountains on three sides, covered with dense vegetation, enjoys fresh air and beautiful scenery. Dozens of reservoirs and dams form the spectacular sight of highland lakes, while over a thousand mountain spring pools are like emerald jewels scattered across forests and fields. It serves as a natural oxygen bar for leisure and recreation and is an excellent summer retreat. The area benefits from fertile soil, high elevation, strong sunlight, and significant diurnal temperature variation. In spring and summer, it is blanketed by lush forests and blooming flowers, while autumn brings the fragrance of ripe fruits. It is a renowned high-quality apple export base and also the source of peaches for Taobao’s “Pick Your Taste” campaign. Driving along the ten-kilometer mountain loop road, visitors are immersed in a world of mountains, water, forests, and fruit trees. Surrounded by peaks, with the gentle babble of streams, the shade of green trees, and the chirping of birds, a vibrant and picturesque ecological landscape unfolds before your eyes.
