Datianzhuang Township Picking and Sightseeing Garden
The Datianzhuang Township Picking and Sightseeing Garden is located 3 kilometers from the township government seat. It is a leisure and sightseeing destination that integrates vacationing, tourism, countryside picking, farm work, and fishing entertainment.
Key Features
(1) Numerous Tourist Attractions. Located in the heart of Mengshan Mountain, the Datianzhuang Township Picking and Sightseeing Garden features interconnected mountains and water, and enjoys a beautiful environment — like a picturesque utopia with blue skies, green land, lush mountains, and clear waters. Attractions include Dawang Guanyin Peak, Overlord’s Bow, Overlord’s Pants, Overlord’s Bed, Jade Emperor Summit, and Jade Emperor Temple. Every step reveals stunning scenery, with forest coverage reaching 70% and high levels of negative oxygen ions, making it a natural forest “oxygen bar.” Many beautiful legends abound, making you feel as if you are strolling through a painting.
(2) Prominent Political Brand. On September 5, 2002, a national conference on agricultural and water reform was held here. The “water management” experience of Datianzhuang received full recognition from attending leaders and became the birthplace of China’s small-scale agricultural water property rights reform. On October 17, 2005, and November 22, 2006, Jia Qinglin, then member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, and Wan Gang, former member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice President of the State, visited successively to inspect new rural construction and rural party building efforts. On April 18, 2006, and May 20, 2004, Wei Jianxing, former member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Secretary of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, and Zhang Gaoli, former Secretary of the Shandong Provincial Party Committee and Director of the Standing Committee of the Shandong Provincial People’s Congress, also came to inspect new rural development and agricultural work. Leaders spoke highly of the region’s beautiful environment and simple folkways.
(3) Well-Developed Small Watershed Management. A total of over 100 million yuan has been invested to implement comprehensive management projects for two small watersheds — Huangtu and Zhoujiazhuang — transforming former tidal flats into renewed landscapes. Guided by the principles of integrated management of mountains, water, forests, fields, and roads, and following the requirements of managing one mountain, one river, and one watershed at a time, the Hui Long River, a tributary of the Zijin River, underwent comprehensive management and development. This has explored a diversified investment model for mountainous area water conservancy construction and integrated development. From 2006 to 2008, a project to manage 5,000 acres of small watersheds (i.e., the Hui Long River Basin), mainly in Huangtu and Zhoujiazhuang, was carried out. This included constructing 1,400 meters of stream bank protection, 296 meters of green belts, dredging 1,600 meters of river channels, building one new pumping station, nine reservoirs, eight check dams, 45 terraced ridges, adding 1,200 acres of irrigated land, improving 1,500 acres of existing irrigation areas, increasing fruit production by over 1.5 million kilograms, and boosting the total value of planting industry by more than 2 million yuan. “Pine and locust trees crown the mountaintops, fruit trees embrace the hillsides, melons and grains thrive at the foothills, and arch dams line the valley floors” — the small watershed management has significantly improved the overall environment, presenting a vibrant leisure tourism area.
(4) Advanced Fruit Production Base. The area encompasses 5,058 acres of orchards, with an annual yield of 32.71 million jin (16.355 million kg) and a production value of 60.61 million yuan. It is a newly established municipal-level sightseeing and tourism fruit industry base in 2011. In strict accordance with organic, green, and pollution-free standards, the base prohibits the use of high-residue pesticides. Based on different fruit varieties, it has built 12 picking gardens for crops such as cherries, apricots, and peaches, showcasing the unique characteristics of Datianzhuang’s sightseeing fruit industry. Since 2011, a Cherry Picking Festival has been held for three consecutive years, using the event as a platform to enhance the visibility and reputation of the fruit produce.
