The former residence of Ma Yaonan is a cultural heritage protection unit of Shandong Province.

The former residence of Ma Yaonan is located in Beijiao Town, Zhoucun District, Zibo City, dating back to 1902.

On June 23, 2015, the former residence of Ma Yaonan was designated as part of the fifth batch of provincial-level cultural heritage protection units by the People's Government of Shandong Province.

Ma Yaonan, originally named Ma Fangsheng, was from Beiwang Village, Sanqu, Changshan County (now Beiwangzhuang, Zhangfang Township, Zhoucun District, Zibo City). He was born on July 16, 1902, into a well-off farming and artisan family. From an early age, Ma Yaonan was intelligent, studious, introverted, and unconventional in his ways. At the age of 13, he entered the Zhoucun Higher Elementary School, and at 17, he was admitted to the First Provincial Middle School of Jinan. Although the school had many spoiled rich kids, he continued to wear simple cloth clothes and kept his distance from them. He was solely dedicated to academic pursuits, especially showing persistent commitment to learning English, and held great admiration for Liang Qichao.
