Tomb of Mao Gong

The Tomb of Mao Gong is a cultural relic protection unit of Hebei Province.

The Tomb of Mao Gong, also known as Mao Gong Lei, is located north of Sanshilipu Village in Hejian City and is the burial mound of Mao Chang, a Han Dynasty scholar. According to *The Record of Mao Gong Academy* by Li Shi, Minister of Rites in the Ming Dynasty, “Mao Gong refers to Mao Chang, a Confucian scholar of the Han Dynasty. King Xian summoned him to serve as a court academician. Mao was skilled in lecturing and interpreting the meanings of the classics, and his teachings became known as the Mao Poetry. He passed away and was buried thirty li north of Hejian City.” The Tomb of Mao Gong was destroyed during the Cultural Revolution but was rebuilt by the Hejian Municipal People's Government in 2005. It is now a key cultural relic protection unit of Cangzhou City.
