Luqing River

In 2013, the People's Government and the Municipal Party Committee of Yucheng City invested hundreds of millions of yuan to improve the happiness index of citizens and promote urban development and beauty. With a total investment of hundreds of millions of yuan, they transformed the 5.4-kilometer-long Luobei Main Canal into ten major landscape features: “Divine Feat Through the Ages,” “Perfectly Round and Square,” “Joy of Feathered People,” “Aroma of Ritual Liquor,” “Shell Mound 0,” “Sunk Lake with Rainbow Bridge,” “Dam Locking the Ferry,” “Herding Gold and Casting Tripods,” “Ancient City’s Lingering Charm,” and “Green Cattail with Pure Spring.” This transformation gradually reveals Yucheng’s millennia-old charm as a “historic city with water elegance” through urban development. Within a 66-meter-wide zone on both sides of the Luobei Main Canal, an urban green landscape belt was constructed, featuring six themed scenic areas: “Dam Locking the Ferry,” “Herding Gold and Casting Tripods,” “Ancient City’s Lingering Charm,” among others. These attractions highlight elements of the Dayu culture and the Lijin culture, organically integrating riverside scenery, leisure, and cultural experiences. A tourism destination centered around the Luobei Main Canal was created, integrating culture, leisure, and ecology. In April 2013, upon approval by the Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government, the “Luobei Main Canal” (urban section) was officially renamed the “Luqing River.”
