Dayu Culture Water Conservancy Scenic Area in Yucheng City

The Dayu Culture Water Conservancy Scenic Area is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction and a national water conservancy scenic area.

The Dayu Culture Water Conservancy Scenic Area is located in Yucheng City, Dezhou, covering an area of 1.6 square kilometers, including a water area of 0.75 square kilometers. The scenic area was built based on the comprehensive management project of the Luoqing River. It includes “one river and two parks,” and is classified as an urban river-lake type water conservancy scenic area. “One river” refers to the Luoqing River; “two parks” refer to Dayu Park and Tangcheng New Lake Park along the Luoqing River. It integrates tourism, leisure, and entertainment, creating a landscape that features clear water, green banks, beautiful scenery, and harmonious coexistence between people and water.

The Luoqing River runs through the central urban area of Yucheng for 5.4 kilometers, connecting to the Laozhao Niu River in the south and leading to the Tuhai River in the north. A 66-meter-wide green landscape belt has been constructed along both banks, featuring ten themed scenic areas: “Eternal Divine Achievements,” “Compassionate Order and Square Rules,” “Joy of Feathered People,” “Fragrance of Ritual Wine,” “Legacy of Beicheng,” “Lying Rainbow over the Dredged Lake,” “Floodgate Locking the Ford,” “Casting Tripods from Golden Herds,” “Legacy of the Ancient City,” and “Clear Source of Green Cattails.” Dayu Park is located at the junction of the old and new city areas, adjacent to the Luoqing River landscape belt. After renovation in 2009, it covers a total area of 400 mu, including a water surface area of 120 mu. It features the South Entrance Plaza, East Entrance Plaza, “Nine Rivers Flowing into the Sea” Theme Plaza, and Circular Fitness Plaza. Major attractions include a seal-style “Dayu” character sculpture, stele corridor, stele pavilion, “One Step Two Wells,” water curtain landscape wall, and the “Bowing to Farm the River Fields” site—over 10 carefully arranged spots offering ever-changing views that allow visitors to appreciate the timeless spirit of Dayu’s water control efforts. In 2012, it was rated as a national AA-level scenic area. Tangcheng New Lake Park covers a total area of 300 mu, including a water surface area of 200 mu. The new lake is connected to the Luoqing River, replenished by water diverted from the Yellow River, with an average depth of 4 meters and a daily water storage capacity of up to 500,000 cubic meters, enabling natural water purification. Serving as a water conservancy project for urban flood control and drainage, it plays important roles in water regulation, environmental beautification, and climate adjustment. Major attractions include the Yucheng Historical and Cultural Plaza, Musical Fountain Water Feature Plaza, Birdsong Forest Plaza, and Sailboat Plaza. It is now a provincial-level water conservancy scenic area.

Approved as the ninth batch of provincial-level water conservancy scenic areas in 2012, and as the fourteenth batch of national water conservancy scenic areas in 2014.
