Fucheng City Ruins

The Fucheng City Ruins are a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

The Fucheng City Ruins are located in the northern part of Huanghua City, approximately 2 kilometers south of Liupizhuang in Yangsanmu Hui Ethnic Township. The ancient city covers a total area of 186,813 square meters. The site has been eroded and only remnants remain, with the area now used as farmland. The city walls were square-shaped, about one li (approximately 500 meters) in length on each of the four sides—east, south, west, and north—and remnants of all four walls can still be seen. Artifacts collected from the site include green-glazed pottery fragments, red pottery mixed with sand, triangular bronze arrowheads, and ancient helmets.

Based on collected samples and historical records, it is preliminarily dated to the Han Dynasty to the Warring States Period. According to the *New Annals of Yanshan*, in the fourth year of Yuanshuo during the reign of Emperor Wu of the Western Han Dynasty (125 BC), the Heqi Marquisate was established here, and the city was called Heqi City. The *Changlu Salt Law Annals* state that the site was a military garrison established to guard against the Di and Lu tribes, referred to as Fudi City. Locally, it was mistakenly called Wudi City, but is now known as Fucheng City. In 1982, it was designated as a Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit of Hebei Province by the People's Government of Hebei Province.

In 2019, it was announced by the State Council as part of the eighth batch of National Key Cultural Relics Protection Units.
