Scenic Area Introduction

Shengmu Mountain Ecological Agricultural Sightseeing Park in Pingyin gets its name from the renowned Huzhuang Catholic Church, one of the three most famous Catholic sites in China. It is a modern agricultural park that integrates ecological landscapes and tourism, and is a national AA-level scenic area.

The park is divided into three zones: the Ecological Agricultural Sightseeing Zone, the Religious Culture Tourist Zone, and the Eden Leisure Resort Zone; and six gardens: the Thousand-Mu Wine Grape Demonstration Garden, the Boutique Crabapple Garden, the Rose Plantation, the Red Persimmon Manor, the Flower and Seedling Garden, and the Fruit Self-Picking Garden.

Shengmu Mountain Ecological Agricultural Sightseeing Park is located 1.5 kilometers south of Pingyin County. The scenic area features a nationally renowned Catholic cultural zone, the largest and most diverse crabapple garden in the province, a rose culture viewing area, and other attractions. In 2006, it was rated as a “National AA-Level Tourist Attraction.” It is also recognized as a National Agricultural Tourism Demonstration Site, one of Jinan’s Top Ten Tourist Attractions, the (Pingyin) Taiwan Agricultural Park in Shandong Province, a Jinan Literary Artists’ Creation Base, and a National Ecological Environment Demonstration Area. The total area of Shengmu Mountain Ecological Agricultural Sightseeing Park is 20,000 mu. Located within the half-hour economic circle of the three major cities—Jinan, Tai’an, and Liaocheng—it is a modern agricultural park that combines premium agricultural displays, ecological landscapes, and tourism. It gets its name from the renowned Huzhuang Catholic Church, one of the three most famous Catholic sites in China. The park has been developed into three zones (Ecological Agricultural Sightseeing Zone, Religious Culture Tourist Zone, Eden Leisure Resort Zone) and six gardens (Boutique Crabapple Garden, Rose Manor, Wine Grape Garden, Flower and Tree Garden, Greenhouse Melon and Vegetable Garden, Apricot Garden). In spring, it is covered in blooming flowers; in summer, it boasts lush greenery; in autumn, it is laden with fruits; and in winter, it presents a unique landscape. The crabapple garden has now become the largest in scale, with the most varieties and the richest colors in Shandong Province.
